Blackboard

I think i have gotten blackboard up and running. it is easier for me to post files to the blog at this point but eventually i will probably post stuff in both places so you can find it easily (just takes me a while to get used to new programs). the grades should be up and available. please check and make sure that you can access the grades. not sure what it is like from the student end so let me know if there are any issues so i can correct them ASAP. i will try to post grades the morning after class.

good luck on all your tests and quizzes this week!!

CORRECTION to the study guide...there is a question asking you to memorize the graph on page 703...that is the wrong page number from a different book addition but it is the cardiac cycle graph i am talking about. i uploaded a blank copy so you can practice labeling the different parts in preparation for the test.

I WILL BE IN THE LAB ON SATURDAY TO HELP WITH WET TISSUE AT 2 OCLOCK. I WILL BE THERE FOR 142 STUDENTS IF YOU NEED HELP.

142 lecture students

review questions are up!! i also posted a couple jeopardy games with some other review questions. these are straight from the instructor CD so i am not sure how many of the questions we may not have covered...if it has to do with specific blood supply like "which blood vessel delivers blood to the big toe" then you dont have to know that...we will cover that in lab.

Dont stress over the Exam...i know harder to do than to say, i think you will all do very well. enjoy your week and i will see some of you in lab on wednesday.

LAB STUDENTS

i will be setting up a practice cadaver quiz for you. the cadaver will be up and you can take the quiz at your leisure and i will post the key in class so you can get an idea about the tagging you will see on cadaver.

see you soon!

Bio 142 student...lecture 3

I posted the power point for the lecture on blood vessels. Be aware that there may be some changes made before class on monday...not to content but just to the format. I will probably eliminate some things and add some review. I will post the outline sunday night so hopefully everyone will be able to print a copy before class. I will have some copies available also.

We will do some practice questions also to prep for the exam and a review of some things from the heart lecture.

I can post those AFTER class also for those of you who may want that. Dont forget to review your cardiac output and blood pressure review sheets!!

See you monday!

Bio 142 quiz 1

In case everyone was wondering, the quizzes have been graded and i have to say, i am quite impressed. Most of you did very well. There are some of you who struggled but hopefully now you know what to expect and how you need to study to improve your grade. I will let everyone see them in class on Wednesday.

Bio 142 students

Hope everyone is finding it helpful to have this blog. Dont forget to comment to me if there is something missing that you might need.

You should have the review and next weeks lecture available for study this weekend. The first exam will cover all material for the cardiovascular system (for those in my class only, other 142 lectures may be different). Dont forget there WILL be some short essay on the test. If you can answer all questions on the study guide you should do well on the exam. We will do some review in class on monday as well.

Dont forget to be thinking about your IP assignments for lab. Those of you doing cardiovascular system need to turn those in next week.

Also for lab, there will be a blood tracing test so begin thinking about blood flow in the body. Look under 142 lab list to find more info on that and a review sheet for it.

Have a good weekend.

Bio 142 students

I hope everyone had a nice holiday!!

I hope I have posted what yall need to help you study for success in A and P. Please feel free to add posts and info that you think might be helpful to everyone. I will try to update this BEFORE class so that you can print off what you need for class.

I have posted several sets of pictures, some may not be useful, others will and they are listed by system. Please check here for reminders and updates about class as well as any links and handouts. If there is something specific you would like to see here please leave me a comment and I will do what I can to accomodate you.

Everyone needs to be studying the flow of blood through the body as we go along in lab. You will have a blood tracing test in lab towards the end of the semester.

No grades will be posted here because of security so you will need to see me about grades.

LECTURE STUDENTS...IMPORTANT INFO

I will have a study guide posted to help you in your test preparation, please try to answer all of the questions in as much detail as possible...if you can answer them all then you are ready for the test!!

I have reviewed the test to see what is on it and there is a change...there will be essay questions on the test. They will not be long and some will be extra credit. Please be prepared to answer some short essay questions and label a diagram.

If we have time we will go over some practice questions in class.

See you monday!!

Hope everyone was able to make up their lab from monday this week :) I will not be able to post grades on here because of security so if you need to know your grade on the quiz just see me in class next week. I will try to keep this site updated for yall with presentations (if any), review sheets and announcements, also check the links page for places to go for extra information to help you study. Please feel free to add links of your own as you find things to share.

I hope yall have a good idea about what your practicals will be like and hopefully have a good idea about how you need to adjust your study habits in order to succeed in this class. We want everyone to be successful so please see me if you are having any specific issues. Overall the quiz results were not very good.

Dont forget to work on your histology workheets and turn them in to me on monday. Have a good week.
